How to keep up your January Motivation!

The holiday season’s gone, we’ve all eaten our own bodyweight in chocolate and we’re living to regret it. That fuzzy period when you aren’t quite sure what day it is creates a timeless void. In this void fitness goals are all but a distant memory. But you’ve been smashing January hard! Increasing your sessions and eating clean, don’t let that motivation die!

Here are 5 ways to increase good weight loss and torch fat, so you see results and carry your good January efforts into Feb!

Intermittent Fasting (IF)

Intermittent fasting, or IF as we’ll call it from here on in, is a great way to reduce the number of Calories you eat. With IF you’ll have a period of time in the day when you simply stop eating. Most people choose to follow an 8-hour eating window (e.g. from 12pm to 8pm) followed by 16 hours of eating… you guessed it – nothing. LeanGainsis probably the most popular method of IF as it sees great sustainable weight loss for people!

High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) 

Okay, so there’s another acronym here – we’re sorry! But HIIT is something you can’t ignore if you’re talking about getting fit and fast. HIIT will torch fat. HIIT involves your favourite cardio, whether that’s the bike, running or stair-climber. You’ll be pushing yourself to the brink for 30 seconds followed by 1 minute of a lower intensity recovery period. Rinse and repeat for 8 rounds initially. Not only will you torch fat during the workout, but research shows you burn Calories after you finish too. All of our red and yellow Muay Thai and Boxing classes involve HIIT, so you always get that finisher and burn that fat!

Boxing & Muay Thai

Boxing, whether it’s with us at VANDA or not, burns a huge number of Calories per hour. It’s a great solo sport that’s made even better by the warm community here at VANDA. You’ll push yourself hard, make new friends and gain a new-found confidence. Boxing and Muay Thai combines a variety of different training techniques like HIIT, strength training and cardio for an epic workout.

Something You Enjoy

We’re not talking about an Oreo Cheesecake, but a physical activity you enjoy. If there’s a sport or active hobby you love – you’re more likely to do it! Any activity that burns Calories and you enjoy doing is a winner. Loose yourself in our intesnse classes by focusing on your technique and getting better you wont even realise you are burning those calories or loosing weight!

Strength Training

We’re not talking about those bodybuilding workouts that last hours and have you taking secret selfies in the mirror. We’re talking about good honest barbell work with staple exercises like the squat, deadlift and bench press. These exercises are the bread and butter of strength training, stimulate your hormones and muscular growth. Within reason, the more muscle you have the higher your resting metabolic rate (you’ll burn more Calories).
